Please join us in this chip-timed, family-friendly 5K run/ 3K walk to feed our hungry neighbors!
Since 1999, Neighborhood Food Pantries has provided food security to our neighbors in need, as well as monetary assistance for housing, utilities, medical care/prescriptions, etc. Funds raised from this 5K event will be used to help us reach our 2021 goal to provide over 2 million meals!
We are currently offering both a Virtual and an In-Person event for 2021. There is limited availability for the in-person option, although in-person slots may increase based on changing CDC advisories and IL re-opening stages.
We are offering a 5K chip-timed run (eligible for time awards – overall and by age group), as well as a 2K family walk.
All participants (virtual or in-person) will receive the same event t-shirt, finisher medal and other items, but ONLY IN-PERSON PARTICIPANTS are eligible for time awards.
Our plans are based off of our most-current understandings of all health and safety recommendations, and we reserve the right to adjust the parameters of the race in order to protect the health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff members.
Our virtual event is similar to our in-person event, but participants will complete their walk/run anywhere they choose – in your neighborhood, at a local park, or on your treadmill! All virtual participants will receive the race t-shirt and finisher medal, but will not be eligible for time awards. (Note: T-shirts and race packet must be picked up at Dick Pond Athletics on Carol Stream – no packets will be mailed).
In-Person – Mallard Lake Forest Preserve, Hanover Park - SPACES ARE LIMITED
We are currently planning for a limited in-person event day race experience that will allow physical distancing between participants, staff, and volunteers.
Race waves are currently set in groups of 50 each, and will start at the following times:
Runners will all be assigned to the 8:30 AM or 8:45 AM time slots.
Participants will receive further instruction as the race date approaches, and will be given their specific wave start time. All participants that are waiting for their wave to begin will be asked to wait in their vehicles until 10 minutes before their start time. There will be no post-race festival or gathering, and race results will be shared the following Monday.
Due to the need to schedule staggered start times, there will be NO Race-Day Registration

The top 3 overall male and female runners will receive a medal, as will the top runners in each bracket (overall winners are not eligible for age group medals):
Race entry includes a T-shirt and awards for top finishers in each age group
Register as a team and recruit your friends, colleagues and family members to join you! (all team members receive a $5 registration discount!)
Registration fee for ages 6+ includes a T-shirt.
Tshirts are only guaranteed for registrations prior to July 16th.
